Grief Care Series

A three-part training series for supporting grief

Welcome to those who hold space for others in grief

grief tenders, facilitators, therapists, death doulas, ritualists, youth workers, hospice companions, peer counsellors, caring family members, community volunteers, and those who are 'grief-curious'

Whether you are new on your path offering grief support or a seasoned guide through the terrain of grief, what I offer will be useful in deepening your helping and care skills. All material is relevant to both one-on-one grief care and group grief tending contexts.

Each session is 1.5 hours via Zoom.

Recording replays will be available for two weeks after each session

$60 each session, or $165 for all three

Our time will be a blend of teaching, self-inquiry, experiential reflections, and group process. Handouts and additional resources are included. The three sessions are designed as a series, but each can also stand on it's own.

Session 1: Dignity-Informed Grief Care

This session will explore the cultural and ancestral contexts that grieving is embedded within and trauma-informed considerations for providing meaningful and attuned care. Participants will be offered foundational concepts and approaches to center the dignity of those they are supporting.

Session 2: Supporting Diverse Grief Expressions

This session offers a model of grieving that embraces the wisdom of body, emotions and intellect, informed by therapeutic, cultural and ancestral grief perspectives. Participants will gain insight into how to recognize the unique grief expressions of those they support, including a framework to design healing rituals.

Session 3: Holding Space for the Complexities of Loss

This session will explore diverse kinds of losses, and offer a soulful approach to understanding and supporting the unique grief needs that arise in folks navigating complex loss. Participants will leave with a tangible way to focus their care and support regardless of loss experience.

Please note: An openness to engage in self-inquiry around your own relationship to grief is recommended. The more we can be with and understand our own grief process, the better able we are to show up for others in healing and effective ways. This training is delivered with this axiom as foundation, always alongside choice.

Why this mini-series format?

I created this shorter form series to be an accessible 'starting point' to Sacred Grief longer form programs. These three sessions offer a distilled overview of practical, ready-to-use, soulful approaches born out of my 20 years experience in the field of grief education, support and literacy. The series stands on its own, however, if you have been 'courting' Sacred Grief offerings for awhile this is a great way to get a sense of me and how I teach before committing to longer form training options. Welcome!

Will the content be relevant to me?

I welcome folks of diverse lived experiences and skill levels who are supporting others through grief of any kind, and who have experience working with their own grief in healing ways. Whether you have years of experience in the helping profession, or are newly on the path to tending grief - you are welcomed and will receive benefit from the content. All the skills are transferable to different and multiple loss contexts , and can be integrated into your caring relationships immediately.

The practices and skills offered in this series are informed by therapeutic and clinical grief theory and practice, Satir Transformational Therapy, NARM-informed approaches to healing trauma, response-based, decolonial, and anti-oppressive practice, somatic and embodied healing modalities, cultural and feminist studies, and years of first-hand experience supporting and teaching a diversity of people through a diversity of change and loss. The mappings and models that I introduce are all Sacred Grief creations, informed by all of these approaches yet expanding beyond them.

All sessions are offered in both USD and CAD currency options. I ask that you please only choose the CAD option if you reside in Canada. Those in the U.S. and other places, please choose USD. Your location is confirmed at check-out. Thank you.
